Japan (NURS 197)

Program Overview IN-COUNTRY: January 5 - 14, 2026

This immersive study abroad program for nursing students offers hands-on learning to develop cultural humility and a deeper understanding of how culture shapes health. Through direct exposure to international healthcare systems, participants will examine their own cultural beliefs, evaluate global traditions and values around health, and analyze the political, social, and historical influences on healthcare. Students will collaborate with peers to explore health profession roles in another country, returning with new perspectives to inspire their practice and peers while fostering interest in future global learning opportunities.

Payment

Cost: $2,175

Included in cost:

  • Course Fees: 3 units towards NURS 197
  • International Travel Insurance
  • Housing
  • In-country transportation (does not include train ticket from Haneda airport to Matsuyama)
  • All academic visits and cultural experiences

*Students will be responsible for their own transportation arrangements and costs.
