Overview
The Cultural Competency Certificate Program is designed to build
cultural competence among service providers working within the
Criminal Justice system. The program focuses on a variety of
vulnerable populations and their experiences with law
enforcement, courts, corrections, and the community pre- and
post-incarceration. The curriculum will enhance critical thinking
through an analysis of intersectionality (race, class and gender)
and various vulnerable populations, while increasing participant
engagement through reading, discussion, role-plays and active
learning.

Audience
This program is meant for service providers and individuals
working within the criminal justice system who want to improve
their cultural competency.
Structure
The Cultural Competency Certificate Program consists of eight
courses totaling 130 hours of instruction required for
certificate completion. Certificates and Continuing Education
units are awarded to those who successfully complete all eight
required courses.
Courses will be offered in a hybrid delivery model, Participants
will be engaged in activities online, but then will come together
to apply and learn in-person strategies.
