Sacramento State’s College of Continuing Education (CCE) offers four undergraduate degree completion programs, each built to support returning students and make completing their degree easier: the Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development, the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, the Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Studies, and the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.

Designed to accommodate working professionals, these programs are all offered in accelerated, fully online formats to help fit around work and life responsibilities, with personalized advising services for each program to help students stay on track and finish at their own pace.

Let’s take a quick look at each program to see which may be right for you!

Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development

The Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development (CHAD) with a concentration in Early Development, Care, and Education prepares students for meaningful careers in early learning and development fields. A standout benefit is that participants are also eligible for the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Permit as they work toward the degree.

“The program aims to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and skills to support and enhance the development of young individuals in various settings, such as schools, community organizations, and health services,” says Regina Swaney, CHAD program instructor and alum.

Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology prepares students for careers in clinical, cognitive, community, cultural, developmental, and social psychology. Students in the program develop essential research and analytical skills while studying human behavior, cognition, and emotion. Dedicated to providing maximum flexibility for working adults, the Bachelor of Science in Psychology program is 100% online.

With courses that run six to eight weeks, students can choose a pace that fits their personal work and life responsibilities.

Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Studies

The Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Studies (BSCTS) is a versatile program designed specifically for working professionals seeking to advance in their current careers or explore opportunities in a new industry. Ideal for managers, teachers, trainers, facilitators, and labor relations specialists seeking career advancement, the BSCTS program prepares students for leadership, instruction, and workforce development-focused roles.

Program courses cover foundational principles and frameworks for teaching, training, and performance evaluation, as well as strategies and practices for developing students’ individual leadership qualities. The BSCTS provides foundational training in practical, marketable skills and the opportunity to earn academic credit for prior work experience.

Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice is the ideal program for those seeking career opportunities across a wide range of criminal justice environments, including courts, corrections, parole and probation systems, and law enforcement. When applying, students work with advisors to build an individualized degree completion plan, a clear roadmap based on a detailed review of their previous coursework and professional experience. Courses are taught online by a committed, diverse group of experts with a wealth of both real-world and academic experience.

“In the CCE Criminal Justice program, students can expect to engage with motivated, experienced faculty who understand the challenges of balancing education with other life responsibilities as they have walked in your shoes,” says Timothy Albright, retired Chief of Police for the Elk Grove Police Department, and former program faculty member.

For those seeking educational and career growth, CCE’s undergraduate degree completion programs offer a great way forward. With accelerated formats, flexible schedules, fully online courses, and personalized academic advising, CCE supports returning students with a clear path to completing their bachelor’s degree.
