Licensure/Credentialing
Admission into programs leading to licensure and credentialing does not guarantee that students will obtain a license or credential. Licensure and credentialing requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the CSU and requirements can change at any time. For example, licensure or credentialing requirements can include evidence of the right to work in the United States (e.g., social security number or taxpayer identification number) or successfully passing a criminal background check. Students are responsible for determining whether they can meet licensure or credentialing requirements. The CSU will not refund tuition, fees, or any associated costs, to students who determine after admission that they cannot meet licensure or credentialing requirements. This program is designed for credentialed teachers in their first or second year of teaching.
Course Offerings
EDTE 270. Advanced Teaching Skills through Teacher Induction for Beginning Teachers – Year 1
The Teacher Induction program provides support to credentialed teachers in their first and second year of teaching. Each beginning teacher participates in professional development and formative assessment in seminars and weekly meetings with a trained support provider. Year 1 focuses on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession, creating an effective classroom environment, planning standards-based instruction for all learners, using technology to access information, and providing effective support for English learners and special populations. Instructor Approval Required For Enrollment.
EDTE 271. Advanced Teaching Skills through Teacher Induction for Beginning Teachers – Year 2.3
Teacher Induction Year Two emphasizes the California student content standards and frameworks. Seminars and individualized assessment and support extend the abilities of second year teachers to collect evidence of their teaching practice, use state and local student assessment data to make informed instructional choices, differentiate instruction to support student achievement of the California student content standards, use research-based strategies to improve the achievement of English learners and students with disabilities, and use technology to maximize instructional effectiveness.
EDTE 272. Mentoring Skills for Teacher Induction (Year 1).3 – 6 Units
Professional development of Mentors (year 1) including research-based practices to provide coaching support for new teachers and to develop teachers’ professional practice; professional development related to effective mentoring practice related to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession, provide formative assessment using observations, reflection and self-assessment, as well as assist in the creation of an electronic portfolio documenting the teacher’s individual professional growth journey. The program is grounded in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs).
EDTE 273. Mentoring Skills for Teacher Induction (Year 2).1 – 6 Units
Continuation of EDTE 272 which includes research-based practices to provide coaching support for new teachers and to develop teachers’ professional practice. Students will engage in professional development in effective mentoring practice related to the CA Standards for the Teaching Profession, provide formative assessment using observations, reflection and self-assessment, as well as assist in the creation of an electronic portfolio documenting the teacher’s individual professional growth journey.

$65 per unit
No refunds are available for Teacher Induction registrations.

Basic Requirements
Participants must complete the induction coursework through their district to receive credit.
Registration Steps
- Select Beginning Teacher or Service Provider
- Indicate Year One or Year Two, if applicable
- Confirm district information with the program coordinator
Incomplete forms will not be processed.
After registration is confirmed, which may take up to 30 days from the date of application, participants will receive an email with their Student ID number and instructions for setting up a SacLink account.
Once the SacLink account is active, participants may log in to My Sac State to access the Student Center and submit payment.
- Login to your My Sac State account
- Click on the “Student Center” link
- Select the “Account Inquiry” link in the Finances Section
- Select the “Make an Online Payment” button at the bottom of the page
- On the green menu bar at the top of the page, click on “Make Payment”
- Click on the payment you would like to make
- Select the “Term” if prompted
- If you are on the payment plan, you may enter the amount you would like to pay in the “Price” field.
- Click “Add to basket”
- If you would like to pay for another item, just click “Continue Shopping”, then repeat steps 7-10
- When your basket is complete, click “Checkout”
- Select your method of payment and click “Continue Checkout”
- Click the square to acknowledge that you agree to the fee that will be charged and click “Continue Checkout”
- Enter your payment information and click “Continue Checkout”
- Review the totals and payment information and click “Submit Payment” to complete the transaction
If the registration deadline is missed, participants must petition the college for units.
Transcripts and Grades
Grades are posted by the end of July.
Many districts require official transcripts, which may be ordered from the Sacramento State Records and Transcripts office.
