Registration & Enrollment
Overview
The College of Continuing Education (CCE) processes registrations and payments for many different programs including academic credit, non-credit and travel study. Policies differ by program type.

How to Register

Adding After Class Begins
A late registration fee of $25 may be applied for registrations after the course has started.

- During the first 10% of class, you may add courses without needing special approval.

- After 10% of the class has elapsed (for a full semester class, this would equate to the second week of the semester), you must submit an Add Petition.

How to Drop
While instructors may administratively remove any student who fails to attend during the initial period of instruction, this does not remove your responsibility to drop yourself from a course or petition to drop after the deadline.
- Not attending class whether in person or online, does not automatically drop you from a course.
- A final grade of “F” or “WU” may be assigned for failure officially drop a course.
To withdraw from all courses, complete the Semester Withdrawal Form.
- During the first 10% of class, you can drop online through your Student Center on My Sac State or by completing the Academic Credit Add/Drop form.
- After 10% of the class has elapsed (for a full semester class, this would equate to the second week of the semester), you must submit a Drop Petition. Additional documentation may also be required.

- For full semester classes this means until Census Date.

- Approvals can be obtained via signature on the Drop Petition or by having the instructor and department chair email your program coordinator with their approval.
- Between the first 25% and 40% of class
- For full semester classes, this means from Census Date through the 6th week of the semester.
- Approval required from both the instructor and department chair.
- Approvals can be obtained via signature on the Drop Petition or by having the instructor and department chair email your program coordinator with their approval.
- Documentation required of “serious and completing” reason(s) for dropping.
- After the first 40% of class
- For full semester classes, this means after the 6th week of the semester.
- Drops are only approved due to career or medical-related reasons beyond your control.
- A self-initiated job change, carrying an excessive workload, or inadequate preparation do not qualify.
- Approval required from the instructor, the department chair and the College Dean.
- Approvals can be obtained via signature on the Drop Petition or by having the instructor, department chair and Dean email your program coordinator with their approval.
- Documentation of the career or medical-related reason beyond your control should be attached to the Drop Petition.
- After the first 75% of class
- For full semester classes, this means after the 8th week of the semester.
- Drops are not permitted except in cases of documented emergencies beyond your control which occur after 75% of the class elapsed.
- Approval required from the instructor, the department chair and the College Dean.
- Approvals can be obtained via signature on the Drop Petition or by having the instructor, department chair and Dean email your program coordinator with their approval.
- Documentation of the emergency beyond your control should be attached to the Drop Petition.
- Withdrawals after the last day of course instruction are not permitted.
Course Fees / Paying for Classes
The College of Continuing Education is self-supported and receives no funding or income from sources other than the fees charged for services. Enrollment fees are established by the CSU Board of Trustees.
Course fees vary by program and are listed on the individual program pages.
Fees may be paid through My Sac State.
You may access copies of your current invoices through your My Sac State Student Center by clicking on “Account Inquiry” under the Finance heading, and then on the tab that says “Invoice.” All past-due fees are subject to a $25.00 late fee.

Refund Policy
Refunds are not automatic.

- Complete the CCE Refund Application to begin the request process.
Refunds are issued per your program’s refund policy – please review the information the program page for details.
In general, refunds are allowed according to the following timeline:
| Drops before the class starts | Full refund minus a $10 processing fee |

| Drops within the first 25% of the course, including the first day of class | 65% refund minus a $10 processing fee. If you have not paid for your course yet, you will still owe the other 35% of your tuition. This fee will remain due on your account. |
| Drops after the first 25% of the class has elapsed | No refund. If you have not paid for your course, all fees will remain due on your account. |
If you dropped after the full or partial refund deadline and would like to request a refund, please contact your program coordinator and submit a refund request online.

Refund Policy
The refund policy is established by the CSU Board of Trustees.

- If CCE cancels a class, all fees will be refunded automatically if eligible.

- The drop deadline for refunds for the EMT program is seven calendar days.
Withdrawals received at least 1 business day before the first class meeting
You may transfer the full amount of your paid fees to another course or receive a full refund, minus a $10 processing fee.
Withdrawals received less than 24 hours before the first class meeting
If you meet the eligibility requirements listed below, you may transfer the full amount of your paid fees to another course or receive a partial refund of 65% of your paid fees, minus a $10 processing fee.

Once your transfer or written refund request is received and enrollment space is verified, a transfer receipt or refund will be sent to you within four to six weeks.

- If you transfer to another course and then request a refund, the conditions for refund eligibility will revert to the class from which you transferred.

- One transfer per registration is allowed.
