Advanced Placement Summer Institute

The Advanced Placement Program® Summer Institute workshops provide an opportunity for teachers to:

The AP® Summer Institutes are subject-specific professional development opportunities that provide teachers with the support and training needed to teach AP® courses. Teachers from around the world come together at these institutes to exchange ideas and information about AP® courses and exams.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING REGISTRATION: The College Board requires that all registrations for AP® Summer Institutes be submitted online, and registration requires the use of your College Board account. Third-party (administrator) registrations are not permitted by the College Board.

Ideally, schools or school districts will send teams of teachers from grade levels 6 – 12.

The College of Continuing Education would like to ensure that all participants enjoy their learning experience. Please email Shannon Ebler at shannon.ebler@csus.edu by June 1, to alert us of any restrictions or special needs.

Workshops are scheduled for Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

The minimum session length of 30 hours is mandated by The College Board®. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory to earn a certificate of completion and academic credit (when requested in advance).

Participants who attend 90% or more of the Institute will receive a certificate indicating participation in the workshop. In compliance with the College Board, participants who miss more than 10% of the Institute will not be eligible for a certificate.

Must be a current AP teacher with a College Board account to be able to register.

The AP® Summer Institutes are subject-specific professional development opportunities that provide AP teachers with the support and training needed to teach AP® courses.

Early Bird Price: $850 per course through June 12, 2026. The registration fee will then increase to $900 per course.

There is an additional $50 lab fee for lab courses (Art & Design, Biology, Chemistry, Government & Politics, Physics, and U.S. History)

The College Board® provides funds to individual teachers under its AP® Fellows Program. Please visit the College Board’s AP® Fellows Program to submit your application online.

If your employer is paying your fees, please complete the online registration process and indicate the type of payment. We will accept credit card, purchase order, or checks. Final payment or a purchase order must be received prior to the beginning of instruction. Please contact your district or school to ensure you complete any district or school paperwork or processes needed to ensure payment.

Workshop Cancellation Policy: The College of Continuing Education makes every effort to maintain the published class schedule. If a class is cancelled, participants will be able to enroll in another class or receive a full refund.

International Applicants are welcome to register! Being a current AP teacher with a College Board account is still required.
