Faculty-Led Study Abroad (FLSA) programs are short-term, credit-bearing international experiences designed for students who would like to study abroad – and stay on track for graduation – but cannot spend an entire semester or academic year abroad. Programs vary in length and location, while classes are taught by Sac State faculty. Check out our upcoming destinations!
China
Join our immersive study abroad program in Nanjing, China, and earn 3 units through CHIN 199: Special Problems. Over two transformative weeks, you’ll engage in content-based Chinese language lessons led by expert instructors at Nanjing University each morning. Afternoons are packed with enriching cultural activities and field trips, exploring the history, arts, cuisine, and vibrant local communities of Nanjing. Costa Rica
This PUBH 190 study abroad program to beautiful Costa Rica is designed to allow students to experience a unique culture first-hand and view a different society through the lens of health, risk prevention, and wellbeing. You will develop the knowledge and tools to be a more effective public health practitioner who views the world through a more comprehensive and culturally aware lens.

A Week of Rhetoric at Labastide
Spend a week at the La Muse Writer’s Retreat in France studying the writing of an individual theorist, inspired by the beautiful scenery of the Occitanie Mountains. The COMS 168 curriculum will be based in intense rhetorical theory, and will be reinforced by their surrounding environment where the French resistance took place.

Experience Ireland through art, culture, and place! This 10-day faculty-led program invites students to explore Ireland’s breathtaking landscapes, archaeology, mythology, folklore, and history. Through visits to culturally significant sites, art workshops, studio visits, and sketchbook activities, students will draw inspiration from Ireland’s rich heritage and create original artwork reflecting their journey.
