CCE offers undergraduate degree completion, graduate degree, credential and certificate programs as well as customized trainings for public sector organizations and government agency clients. Program areas include but are not limited to Business, Education, Health & Wellness, Languages & Communication, and Leadership & Government.

Courses are taught by either Sacramento State faculty or highly qualified professionals working in the field.

In person courses can be held in Napa Hall or other locations on the Sacramento State campus.

Paramedic Program and Emergency Medical Technician courses meet off campus at McClellan Park.

Many classes are entirely online.

CCE offers in-person, online, and hybrid programs.

The College of Continuing Education (CCE) and the Disability Access Center (DAC) at Sacramento State are committed to assisting students with disabilities in attaining their educational and vocational goals.

Accommodations and services are determined based on enrollment status, available documentation and an interactive collaboration with students. To review more information about accommodations, visit the DAC website.

Current Sacramento State Alumni Association members and Sacramento State staff are entitled to 15% off course fees in select professional development programs at the time of registration. To receive this offer, email cceonlinereg@csus.edu or call 916-278-5182 to register.

This discount cannot be applied to previously completed programs and cannot be used in conjunction with employer-paid tuition assistance.

Fees for academic credit courses may be paid through My Sac State.

Fees for non-credit courses are due when you register for the course.

Yes. You can pay in person at 3000 State University Drive (Napa Hall) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To have your employer/agency billed for your non-credit program course fees, complete and submit the Registration Agreement form to the CCE Online Reg team.

Financial aid can be used for degree programs administered by CCE. Visit the Financial Aid page for more information on eligibility requirements.

There are grants, loans, and scholarships available.

• Grants are funds that do not require repayment and are from federal and state funds.
• Loans are borrowed monies that require repayment.
• Scholarships are similar to grants but are awarded by a third party.

If you are admitted to Sacramento State, log into My Sac State and register online through the Student Center.

If you are not admitted to Sacramento State, complete the Academic Credit Registration Form and submit it in person, by mail, or by email before the first day of class.

If you are admitted to Sacramento State, add courses using My Sac State prior to the first day of class.

If you are not admitted to Sacramento State, complete and submit the Academic Credit Add/Drop Form prior to the first day of class.

To withdraw from all courses, complete the Semester Withdrawal Form.

During the first 10% of class, you can drop online through your Student Center on My Sac State or by completing the Academic Credit Add/Drop Form.

After 10% of the class has elapsed, you must submit a Drop Petition. Please see the Registration & Enrollment page for details on required approvals.

Refunds are issued per your program’s refund policy. Complete the CCE Refund Application to begin the request process.

Official Transcripts may be requested through the Outgoing Transcripts Office. Grades and unofficial transcripts can be viewed on your My Sac State Student Center.

Depending on the state you live in, you may be eligible to enroll in an online program. Please see the Out-of-State Students State Authorization Status page on Sac State’s website for more information.

Certificate programs are groups of classes designed to help you gain career expertise, enhance your resume or update your skills. Each program varies, but generally you can earn a certificate within one year. Course schedules are designed to meet the needs of working professionals. Anyone who meets the prerequisite requirements may enroll in individual courses in a certificate program.

No. Anyone who has fulfilled the prerequisites for a given class may take that class individually, without officially applying to a certificate program.

Certificate programs vary in length, but most can be completed within six months to a year. However, as you are free to take classes when they are compatible with your schedule, the pursuit could extend beyond one year.

• For non-credit certificate programs like Human Resources Management, look for the registration link on the program page.
• For academic credit certificate programs like the Judicial Administration Graduate Certificate, check the individual program page for specifics on admission requirements and the application process.

Yes.

• A Certificate of Participation is awarded for CEU-based certificate programs.
• A Certificate of Academic Achievement is awarded for academic credit certificate programs.

Prior to completing the last course in your certificate program, you will need to submit a Certificate of Participation Form. Complete this form and return it to the College of Continuing Education. After CCE has verified completion of all required courses, a certificate with your name and date of completion will be sent to you along with an official transcript. An official notification letter of program completion can be sent to an identified employer, supervisor, personnel manager or association, if requested.

Unfortunately, financial aid is not available for certificate programs.

Non-credit courses are those geared specifically to the special interests of the community, often offered as seminars or workshops. No academic credits or CEUs are awarded.

CCE’s Summer Youth Academies offerings are an example of non-credit courses.

The CEU is a nationally recognized unit of measurement of non-credit, post-secondary-level study. You can earn one CEU for every 10 contact hours of participation or portion thereof, e.g., eight continuing education hours equals 0.8 CEUs.

CEUs are designed for use where employers, re-licensure agencies and other authorities require a specified number of hours of study on a regular basis for career advancement purposes. Grading for CEU courses is on a credit/no-credit basis.

To obtain a transcript of CEU courses, submit the Transcript Request form.

After we have verified that you are in our system, an email will be sent to you with instructions for payment ($4 for the first transcript, $2 for each additional copy.)

To request a certificate of participation and/or digital badge, submit the Certificate Request form

Look for the registration link on the program page then follow the prompts to submit your registration.

Email cceonlinereg@csus.edu no less than 24 hours before your first class meeting. This notice period does not include weekends or holidays.

Open University program allows learners to attend regular university classes on a space-available basis without formally being admitted to Sacramento State.

The Open University fee for Fall 2026 is $320 per unit for undergrad and $340 for graduate.

Individuals 60 years old or above may “audit” (attend but receive no credit for) an Open University course for $65 per unit.

For the Fall 2026 semester, registration is from Monday, Aug. 31 – Monday, Sept. 28, 2026.

Late Registration occurs from Tues, Sept. 29 – Friday, Nov. 20, 2026, with an additional petition to Add/Drop After Deadline form and a $25 late fee.

• Continuing students who completed the formal admissions process and were enrolled in Spring 2026 or Fall 2025 but will not graduate prior to Summer 2026.
• Community members who are not formally admitted to the university or students who have been admitted to another college.

Registration begins on April 13 for continuing students via the Student Center on My Sac State.

For Students Not Admitted or Admitted for Fall 2026

Registration begins on May 6. Complete the Summer Session registration form and submit it to ccecreditreg@csus.edu for processing.

Fees are $339 per unit for undergraduate courses and $393 per unit for graduate courses.

Continuing Sac State students also pay Campus Mandatory Fees for Health Services, Health Fees, Associated Students Inc., University Union, The WELL, and Instructional Related Activities.

Yes. Financial aid is available for Summer.

Students may enroll in a maximum of 12 units during the summer term. Students who want to take more than 12 units may petition to enroll in additional units.
