The College of Continuing Education (CCE) has planted a garden on the Sacramento State campus, as part of a food security initiative. The new CCE Perennial Food Plot “focuses on long-lasting fruit trees and bushes that do well in our hot dry Mediterranean climate,” says Jeremiah Woolsey, CCE’s director of Digital Learning & Technology Solutions.

Woolsey and International Programs manager Paulo Pinto, both avid gardeners, donated fig and pomegranate trees, along with grape and blackberry bushes to get the community garden started. The CCE Perennial Food Plot is located near Lot 10 across from Hornet Stadium.

In addition to the Perennial Food Plot, staff members at the college started a new Garden Club to promote sustainability and food security.
