Emergency Medical Technician Course

Overview

In this nine week course, students will receive basic life support training skills needed to become a certified EMT. The classroom structure is divided into lecture and lab time where students get a hands-on learning experience to practice rescue scenario skills.

National Registry Paramedic Scenario Psychomotor Examination

National Registry Paramedic Scenario Psychomotor Examination

The College of Continuing Education is proud to offer the National Registry Paramedic (NRP) Scenario Psychomotor Examination once a month.

Paramedic candidates will be tested on a total of six skills. Five skills from the traditional NRP Psychomotor Examination (Patient Assessment – Trauma, Dynamic Cardiology, Static Cardiology, Oral Station Case A, Oral Station Case B) will be tested, with the addition of an Integrated Out-Of-Hospital Scenario.

Paramedic Program

Overview

The Paramedic Program is designed for individuals looking to further their career in emergency medical services. As a paramedic, you will provide advanced emergency on-scene treatment as well as patient care and transportation, serving as the link from the scene into the health care system. Our students are prepared for roles as clinicians, advocates, educators and leaders in the changing prehospital health care system.

We are proud to be the first and only California State University campus to offer a paramedic program.

Hybrid Paramedic Program

Overview

The next hybrid paramedic cohort will start in January 2025. The application will be available on this webpage in August 2024.

The Hybrid Paramedic program requires different qualifications from the standard Paramedic Program. Please read the Requirements tab below to see if you qualify for this program. 

The Hybrid Paramedic Program is designed to accommodate full-time EMS employees who want to obtain a paramedic certification with accommodations for their work schedule.

Students complete a substantial portion of their education through reading and additional self-guided means, then reinforce the reading by attending class less frequently than a traditional program.

We believe in creating an environment in which faculty and students pursue the knowledge of prehospital care guided by our core values.
